The southern jurisdiction joins Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia as the places in which players can freely use the online sports betting and iGaming app, owned by Wynn Resorts.
However, the brand boasts varying degrees of market access in a total of 17 jurisdictions, a p that it is looking to aggressively increase.
Currently, WynnBET covers roughly 46% of the US population, but the brand is in negotiations to obtain access in seven additional states, and if these are successful, WynnBET would see its footprint expand to encompass approximately 77%, or more than three-quarters, of the US adult population.
This development comes as the online sports betting and iGaming industry’s legislative and regulatory landscape in the US is rapidly evolving, and WynnBET acknowledged that its access is subject to change as a result.
“WynnBET has market access agreements or opportunities which will become effective if legalised and regulatory requirements, licensee eligibility, and suitability standards are met,” said WynnBET.
“Such market access and licensure are subject to legalisation and required approvals by regulatory authorities in each jurisdiction.”
Louisiana is an important state for any operator to break into right now, with Catena Media in June projecting a multi-billion-dollar sports betting handle, and that sportsbooks will bring in over $200m in revenue once the market matures.
This news also follows the announcement of a major data-sharing deal between WynnBET and Genius Sports that was announced on 8 September.
The announcement represents an expansion of the companies’ long-standing supplier agreement, boosting WynnBET’s offering with content from the English Premier League and Liga MX, as well as Argentine and Colombian football.
