A new dynasty shall rise from the ashes of an old one as the Seattle Seahawks battle their way to the Lombardi Trophy
The Super Bowl is the absolute pinnacle of the NFL, and this year we see both sides come in with real championship pedigree. The reigning champions, the Seattle Seahawks, look to build a house on their dynasty’s foundations whilst the New England Patriots look to solidify themselves as one of the most dominant forces in the history of sport.
They left it very, very late but Seattle just managed to squeeze past the Green Bay Packers in overtime last week and it just showed they were destined to head to Arizona for the grandest stage of them all. It was a bit lucky but they were also carried a little by Marshawn Lynch, who was superb and will be a vital part to the game on Sunday.
The Patriots had a completely different kind of game to where they dominated the Indianapolis Colts. It’s been glossed over by the deflate-gate scandal that everyone seems to want to talk about but what was clear is that New England are very dangerous on both sides of the ball.
This will be a very close encounter, both are great on defence but it’s the Seahawks who have more ways of winning when the going gets tough than the Patriots. Take them to win and for both teams to combine for under 47.5 points at 5/2 – because if they can’t run the ball, Russell Wilson has the ability and confidence to make the difference.
Thinking about Wilson, despite his disappointing performance in the NFC Title game, he still pulled them out of the mire and was a real catalyst on the sidelines. He always stays positive and it was his touchdown that really got them back in the game so with that in mind, back the Seattle QB to score a TD at anytime at 7/4.
However, if we’ve ever learnt anything about the Patriots in the Belichick/Brady era, it’s that they don’t go down without a fight. They’ll surprise everyone on defence at how they can keep the score close but also surprise-package Julian Edelman will be an important piece. Look at him to score a touchdown anytime at 13/10, it’s a great price for one of Brady’s favourite targets.
Whilst it’ll be that defence that’ll keep the score down, they won’t be able to stop Seattle completely and early on they’ll try to restrict their potent attack to field goals. The Legion of Boom will try to shut down the Patriots so go for Seattle to score a field goal as the first scoring play of the game at 16/5, it’ll be the calm before a storm of real NFL quality.
