Penn Entertainment has partnered with Quail Hollow Club and the Wells Fargo Championship.

The deal was completed through the operator’s subsidiary, Penn Sports Interactive, to secure market access for ESPN Bet.

This will allow the sports wagering platform to launch in North Carolina once online sports wagering passes regulation.

At the end of November, regulators announced that legal online sports betting would not go live in the state ahead of the Super Bowl, but that it could launch sometime after 8 January 2024.

Johnny Harris, Quail Hollow Club President, said: “We welcome the upcoming launch of regulated online sports wagering in North Carolina and are extremely pleased to partner with a leading gaming and entertainment operator in Penn Entertainment.

“Penn’s compelling online sports betting brand ESPN Bet, cutting-edge technology and extensive operational expertise make them an ideal long-term partner for this industry.”

As the Official Bettering Operator of the Wells Fargo Championship, a Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour Event held at Quail Hollow Club, ESPN Bet will secure its place in the state.

This leg of the tour will run from 6-12 May 2024.

Benjie Levy, Head of Penn Interactive, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Quail Hollow Club and the Wells Fargo Championship as we prepare to bring our new online sports betting brand, ESPN Bet, to North Carolina.

“Along with market access, we’re excited to sponsor the popular Wells Fargo Championship and look forward to working together with our new partners to create unique fan activations.”

EPSN Bet has now launched in 17 states since starting operations on 14 November.

This isn’t the only deal that the company has made recently though, with a partnership announced between ESPN Bet and the National Hockey League (NHL).
