Nikolakopoulos joined Intralot in 2007 as a Strategy Director and has held a variety of different positions through the years. In the past few years, he has been the company’s Group COO, Group COO and moved up to Group Deputy CEO in 2019. He has also held positions at Microsoft as a Marketing Director.
He succeeds Byron Boothe, an established lottery industry veteran, who first joined Intralot as the Vice President of Government Relations in 2007.
Intralot Group Chairman and CEO Sokratis Kokkalis thanked the outgoing CEO of Intralot for his longtime contribution to the growth of the company in the United States and wished Nikolakopoulos every success in his new role.
Boothe will remain as a Member of the Board of Directors at Intralot and advisor to the management.
As part of his new role as CEO, Nikolakopoulos will assume greater responsibility over the company. He will be in charge of the business based in the US, as well as the group’s ambitions for growth plans in the country.
Intralot is a company that supplies gaming content, sports betting management and interactive gambling services. It serves as a lottery vendor as well as a lottery operator, and supplies integrated gambling to state-licensed gaming organisations worldwide.
In September, Intralot and EveryMatrix launched a new website for the Morocco state lottery.
On that deal, Intralot General Manager Mohammed Karim El Yaakoubi added: “With this agreement, Intralot partners with one of the leading B2B providers in the world today.”
