Fury vs Usyk: What would the betting look like?

Though the fight has not yet been confirmed, many operators have already begun offering odds on the potential fight – showing the heavyweight interest in the clash – which now makes it feel like an inevitability that Fury will return from his recent ‘retirement,’ as the Ukrainian has earned the right to challenge the Gypsy King in the ring.

Fury, the man that proved himself a heavyweight great by putting Deontay Wilder down for good in Vegas, has the reach, the backing of most of the betting public and a greater range of boxing skill in his corner.

Whereas Usyk, bereft of the fearsome height and reach Fury possesses, perhaps has a sense of destiny – with the fight being against the backdrop of the Ukraine war. Though, such factors don’t play with oddsmakers.

The winner of the Fury Usyk-fight will become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, the first since Lennox Lewis completed the feat by beating Evander Holifield in 1999.

By combining these factors, it all equals a big night for gambling companies – one that could forgo the conventional setting of Las Vegas.

Current odds from Sky Bet show Fury is the favourite to be Usyk’s next opponent, at 4/7. While US sportsbook FanDuel is already backing Fury, with American odds of +200 for the Brit – while Usyk has -250.
