Arooga to feature new retail sportsbook

The new retail offering, in partnership with PlaySugarHouse, will be the first location to offer its customers sports betting and operate inside the Arooga Grille.

The venue has over 7,000 square feet, 250 seats and over 100 HD TVs for consumers to use at present; however, franchise co-owner David McBride has gone ahead with significant renovations to the interior, to create a new retail sportsbook atmosphere, complete with kiosks and teller stations.

McBride, COO of McBride Holding Company, and co-owner of the Arooga’s Shelton franchise location, said of the new partnership: “We have always paid attention to the expanding gaming landscape in the northeast and have been hopeful that sports wagering would become available to us.

“The proposed layout for PlaySugarHouse is really magnificent with up to 15 kiosks, so there will be plenty of room to satisfy all guests within the restaurant as well as patrons who would like to stop by and place a bet.”

Meanwhile, James Belli, VP of McBride Holding Company, and co-owner of Arooga’s Shelton, added: “We are extremely excited that the CT lottery has chosen Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar in Shelton, to launch one of Connecticut’s sports book locations.

“This partnership will offer guests throughout the region an unparalleled opportunity to watch a game and place a sports bet in what we believe is one of, if not the best, sports atmospheres in Connecticut.”

Once the renovations are complete, the venue is expected to open in December 2022.

In other recent Connecticut gaming news, NeoGames-owned Pariplay has received a licence within the state.
