The $450m project, slated to be completed by the end of 2024, aims to become a cornerstone of entertainment and economic growth in the region.
The media tour hosted by the Enterprise showcased significant progress on the construction site, affirming the project’s adherence to the 19-month construction schedule.
The facility will offer an array of amenities, including 900 Class III slot machines, a poker room, a sportsbook and table games such as blackjack, craps, roulette and baccarat.
Additionally, guests are expected to have multiple dining options, including the Morton’s Steakhouse. Future phases of construction will expand the complex to include a hotel, conference centre and other recreational facilities.
Mike Bean, Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise CEO, said: “Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy will be a beautiful, upscale facility that will be an entertainment mecca and economic engine for the fastest-growing region in the Valley. Our construction team is doing an incredible job keeping us moving forward on an aggressive timescale. We are excited to create more opportunities for the Tohono O’odham Nation and the West Valley.”
The construction effort has created 5,500 jobs, contributing to the local economy, with expectations to employ over 1,000 team members upon completion.
The new casino, situated on 80 acres of reservation land west of Glendale, Arizona, represents a significant investment in the region’s development.
In April 2023, the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise commenced construction on the Desert Diamond Casino complex.
The project, overseen by the Hunt/Penta Joint Venture as general contractor, remains on track despite challenges posed by its scale and complexity.
