Brandon Bell, former Chair of the state’s Republican Party, assisted with the lawsuit, which will challenge the legality of sports betting within the state.

Daniel S. Harrop is asking the courts to declare Rhode Island sports betting laws violate the rights of the people.

Unlike table games, sports betting has never been on a ballot to be approved by voters.

The state recently announced its sports betting market has achieved its best month to date for March, despite falling short of its overall target so far.

Joseph S. Larisa Jr. tweeted: “Filed suit today to stop sports betting and future mobile sports betting and unless RI voters approve. Table games were approved by voters in 2012 and 2016. Sports betting has never been on the ballot.”
