The game, NHL PrePlay, will use NHL Edge data to generate predictions, offering experiences as prizes alongside a top prize of CA$100,000 ($73,450).
The game will be available on each match day during the NHL season. Prediction questions include: Who will win tonight’s game? and Which of these players will have the hardest shot?
Game-playing fans will be awarded points based on correct answers with the recipient of the top points receiving CA$100,000 as a Grand Prize winner.
Additional prizes include shop gift cards, weekly ticket giveaways and a monthly trip giveaway to an NHL tentpole event such as the NHL Winter Classic.
Per the deal, Bet99 will receive broadcast exposure for its brands through digitally enhanced dasherboards and Stanley Cup playoff games, which will be broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet.
The deal also gives Bet99 a series of exclusive marketing rights and designations that will connect Bet99 brands with NHL fans, using the NHL’s network of marketing, digital and social media channels.
Bet99 CEO Jared Beber said: “This partnership is groundbreaking for Canadian hockey and sports fans. NHL PrePlay will amplify fan engagement and excitement around NHL games, especially the prizes, which include access to once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
“Designed to support our focus on education within the gaming space, the game offers opportunities for players to explore the space and become more knowledgeable without making real money wagers.
“Not only is the NHL PrePlay programme innovative and a great access point for new and potential bettors, but the educational aspect also fits well with our focus on responsible gaming. We’ll also leverage our partnership with NHL star Auston Matthews, taking this agreement to the next level.”
